Description
Bald-hip Rose stands out clearly among other rose species. Its stems are covered with numerous soft, straight, bristly prickles. The leaves consist of 5 to 9 toothed leaflets. The small, pale pink to rosy flowers, which emit a pleasant fragrance, typically appear singly at branch tips. Its fruits are small, red, pear-shaped hips lacking any attached sepals. While less showy than cultivated roses, Baldhip Rose offers a subtle charm suited to woodland gardens and is one of the few rose species that thrives in shaded environments.
